Description: This waiata was composed by a group of women from Onetahua Marae, Pohara, Mohua (Golden Bay, South Island). The project brief was to compose a waiata that expressed their profound and deep relationship with te puna waiora o te Waikoropupu, an internationally revered freshwater spring, and the kaitiaki (guardian) of the wāhi tapu, Hine Huriawa. The waiata also needed to be simple to sing (in an easy register . . . low) and easy to remember so that everyone, children, adults or elders could stand
