Output is sent to the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission; Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel drive system is optional. Whether front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, the Tiguan delivers athletic, if not breathtaking, performance; This performance is partly helped by the low torque peak at 1900 rpm and smooth gear shifts.<br/><br/>The 2024 Tiguan is quite efficient for the segment, delivering up to 24 mpg city and 31 mpg highway, according to EPA estimates.<br/><br/>The Tiguan's interior is a classic give-and-take situation. It's one of the only models in its segment with an optional third row, and legroom in the front and second rows is increasingly tighter than most rivals. Notably, Tiguans equipped with 4Motion all-wheel drive do not have a third row, and second-row passengers gain about two inches of additional legroom. Other than that, the interior layout is simple, functional but not very stylish. The base Tiguan comes standard with six-way manually adjustable heated front seats with cloth upholstery. The SE adds a power-adjustable driver's seat and faux leather upholstery, among other upgrades; Opting for more expensive versions can net you full power passenger seats, leather upholstery and a panoramic sunroof.
