No arrests have been made at present.<br/><br/>'We are investigating disorder which happened in Portsmouth last night (April 16) following the football,' Hampshire Police said in a statement on Wednesday.<br/><br/>'We started to receive calls just before 11 pm to reports of disorder ongoing at O'Neill's pub in Albert Road, Southsea.<br/><br/>'It is believed around 300 people were present at the time, and we have received reports of several offenses, including theft, criminal damage, and racial abuse aimed at a staff member.<br/><br/>'The disorder is reported to have continued into surrounding streets, with people present then moving off in reduced groups to other establishments as well.<br/><br/>'We have also received a report of criminal damage in Drift Bar, and of a man being assaulted in Palmerston Road.<br/><br/>'Officers attended and remained in the area into the early hours of the morning.'<br/><br/>Chief Inspector Paul Markham, district commander for Portsmouth, added: 'Portsmouth's win against Barnsley last night was a fantastic moment for the club and for the city, and a moment everyone rightly wanted to celebrate.<br/><br/>'Sadly, a small number of people saw this as an opportunity to commit mindless acts of violence and criminal damage as part of the wider celebrations.<br/><br/>'Officers have been out in Southsea today and we are working hard to identify any offenses committed and ensure all lines of inquiry available are thoroughly investigated to identify people responsibly.<br/>")

His young colleagues looked in awe.<br/><br/>It had been 254 days since the Dutch full-back had last stepped on a pitch after suffering damage to the ACL ligament in his knee against Nottingham Forest on August 12.<br/><br/>No one imagined as the 22-year-old trudged off the pitch of Arsenal's first Premier League game of the season, that it would be another eight months before he would re-appear.<br/><br/>Further still, not many expected Timber to return to such aplomb on just his first appearance, playing for the Arsenal Under-21s.<br/><br/>He wore his usual number 12 shirt, despite the academy typically using numbers 1 to 11 for the line-up. Under Mikel Arteta, that will likely be more tempered.<br/><br/>Timber made himself available around the box on several occasions, pressing into attacking positions. He had another crack at goal from outside the area and parried out for a corner on 24 minutes.<br/><br/>After the half-hour mark, Timber gradually slowed down, readjusting to the pace of a match. This was expected after such a long absence.<br/><br/>Caution is needed. An appearance after an eight-month injury layoff is a start, but not necessarily an indication Timber is fully fit to start in the first team just yet.<br/><br/>His reintroduction will need to be managed carefully, even though getting him back as soon as possible will be craved. He was substituted at half-time in a wise decision, as there's no rush with the season reaching its close.<br/><br/>But you can see why the north London club is relishing his full return.<br/><br/>You only have to look at the left-back slot. Oleksandr Zinchenko is impressive in advancing play forward but occasionally fallible in defensive scenarios; Jakub Kiwior has grown as the season has gone on but still has more development to go; Takehiro Tomiyasu is their best defensive choice at present but is injury-prone.<br/><br/>A fully-fit Timber slots right into the starting XI.<br/><br/>So yes, a very exciting return, and one which showed glimpses of why the Gunners so relish his full return - but still more runouts are needed before Timber can be properly called upon.")

_iran-keeper-is-39banned-and-fined-380039-after-being-pushed-away-for-hugging-a-female-fan.webp "An Iranian goalkeeper has been handed a fine and one-match suspension after hugging a female fan, who was being chased by security for reportedly not wearing the compulsory hijab.<br/><br/>Hossein Hosseini, goalkeeper for Esteghlal - one of the top teams in Iran - has been reprimanded by the Iranian football federation after he embraced a fan who had made her way to the side of the pitch. <br/><br/>Hijabs, or headscarves, have been compulsory for women in Iran since the 1979 revolution, enforcing what is widely considered by many Muslim women around the world to be a matter of choice.<br/><br/>Footage shows the moment when the fan made her way onto the pitch with her hair showing after her hijab had fallen, where she was accosted by security. <br/><br/>Hosseini can then be seen making his way over and appearing to gesture for the security to step away as there was no danger and embraced the fan. <br/><br/>However further security guards then raced to the scene and pulled Hosseini away from the supporter and escorted him off the pitch while a small scuffle broke out. <br/><br/>Fans in the stands appeared to throw objects at security as they escorted Hosseini away and seemed to applaud the fans and Hosseini as he left the field under escort. <br/><br/>According to reports, spectators continued to seemingly gesture angrily and allegedly chant 'shame on you' at the security guards as they remained on the field. <br/><br/>After Hosseini had been guided away from the field, several of his Esteghlal teammates approached the scene, one of whom gave the fan his shirt. <br/><br/>The fan then ran towards a corner of the ground that seemed predominantly made up of female supporters, whirling the shirt above her head in celebration as the rest of the stadium cheered her back to her seat as she pulled her hijab back on. <br/><br/>According to Iranian publication Khabar Varzeshi, Hosseini - who has played 11 times for the national team - was handed a fine of around £3,800 and a ban for one game for his actions, which were reportedly deemed 'unprofessional and beyond the legal duties of a player'.<br/><br/>The Esteghlal captain then reportedly made a public comment after being called into the federation disciplinary committee to explain himself, allegedly saying: 'I will pay the fine, for the sake of that lady'. <br/><br/>Yet reports suggest that these comments did not go down well, with the IRNA - Iran's official news agency - reporting that Hosseini could face a further penalty due to his public comments.")
